Jintana Khieochaum - Aequill

How would you describe what you do?

I am a fragrance and candle maker. My passion is creating space that people can relax and unwind in. It’s an important aspect of what I do.  Living in London for most of my life, space is a luxury, so for me, it’s so important to create your sanctuary in a way that's going to serve your mind and body to relax and rejuvenate from the busy city life.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I love working with essential oils as fragrances.  I am in love with nature, the scent of the earth, fresh-cut grass, blooming flowers, and fresh breezes. The scent is strongly connected to memory so anything that takes me back to nature is something that inspires me very much.

What is the Aequill platform and what inspired you to set it up?

I started selling my products at markets. Having been doing that for a while I noticed that there was nowhere for us all to unite or for customers to find us all together again so AEQUILL started as that – a place where customers from the market can go online to find their local makers.  My vision for the platform is to create an ethical marketplace with carefully curated goods from independent British artisans and makers, supporting the small, the great, and the good.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of what AEQUILL stands for which is looking after yourself in order to look after others. It's the ecosystem of life.

What does living well mean to you?

To me, it means to love. To give love, to receive love. To do what you love. You live once, and if you do it with full passion than you’ve lived fully.

What does natural beauty mean to you?

Means authenticity. To show yourself in your true form. It takes a lot of vulnerability to achieve natural beauty. Get the basics right and you can dress it up the way you want to.

What is your self-care ritual?

My self-care is about understanding myself a little more every day. This could be anything from what I eat to what products I use. So in essence I take notes of what I like – what my stomach likes, what my skin likes, what my mind likes. I then try to incorporate all these things into my daily routine. Self-care shouldn't be something that happens once a week – but a little every day goes a long way to feeling healthy and happy until old age.

 Why Elan Skincare?

I love Elan's philosophy behind the products and that it’s rooted in science, nature, and art. I like that you understand that everything is a fine balance with this approach. What drew me to Elan Skincare was Joanna's expertise and history in the medical field, which make me feel that she understands the skin as an organ and therefore, can design something with an effective approach using her knowledge.
